LED's Write Pen LED's Write Pen in action: the LEDs are activated when held correctly

During the Health Technology minor at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, a multidisciplinary team worked on a project to develop a special pen. This pen was created to help children in writing therapy learning to write using a proper gripping technique.

This project was carried out in close cooperation with a problem owner. The solution had to tackle the problem that children are often not motivated enough to hold a pen in the so called dynamic three-point grip (DDG). Furthermore, children had to be able to keep the pen steady while writing.

In order to come to a solution, studies have been carried out into motivation in children, what the best pen grip is and what possible solutions already exist. The final prototype is presented on this platform.
