Improving access to health: learning from the field

Health systems are facing serious challenges. Resources are increasingly limited in a rapidly changing world, where the nature of health needs are equally changeable. But at the same time, technological progress in the digital age and the emergence of new health actors expand our array of potential solutions to these unprecedented challenges.

One of the key aspects in order to be able to tackle those challenges is that health systems be better organized to become learning systems, that can study their own practices to learn lessons that will inform these practices and improve their ability to adapt rapidly to the evolution of health needs.

At this eighth edition of the Geneva Health Forum, we will notably explore innovations that are put in place in the field to improve learning and implementation cycles in Global Health, with a view to best adapt our practices and improve access to health in a changing world.

Within the overall above-mentioned thematic, this year’s edition of the Geneva Health Forum will focus on five key tracks as follows:

1. Achieving Universal Health Coverage
2. Addressing Health Emergencies
3. Promoting Healthier Populations
4. Precision Global Health in the Digital Age
5. Global Change and Health

The first three tracks were selected as they align with strategic priorities identified by the WHO. The remaining two tracks are selected firstly to reflect the thematic focus of the previous edition of the GHF and in recognition of the continually growing momentum of digital health, and lastly to address the dynamic challenges that health systems are facing as a result of various global changes.

There will be five plenary sessions:

1. Implementing digital health: Sharing Country Experiences
2. GHF 2020’s DNA: Addressing Global Health Challenges
3. Is digital Health a Prerequisite for Achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC)?
4. Is the Elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) possible?
5. How do you Decolonialise Global Health?

In total, more than 70 sessions dedicated to various health issues are programmed, ranging from traditional conferences to more active mechanisms, including plenary debates, but also roundtable meetings and technical workshops.
